Scott Davis LA Raider Rooting for DJ Hayden Breakthrough Season
For those that chose the high intensity and high stress world that tis the NFL they must be able to handle the high stress on performance to make a go of it. Every day players strive to prove their worth but at some point there has to be tangible evidence that they are indeed worth their salt. One way to secure a place in the annals of the NFL, for even a short period of time, is to have a noteworthy standout season sooner than later that puts and keeps a player on the map. The Raiders like many teams have a new crew of hopefuls that must do just that in 2015.
The Raiders’ roster have a cache of younger players whom are striving for such a standout season to set themselves as reliable talent worthy of the teams approval.
The Raiders will be keeping an eye and a litany of players this spring and summer as they work into the preseason.
The Raiders’ have a leading cornerback that is DJ Hayden, A no. 12 pick in 2013, who has started in just 10 of 32 games since entering the NFL.
He is at the precipice career-wise and his time has come to produce regardless of being experienced enough or not.
Hayden played 2 years at a junior college and transferred to Houston where he played another two seasons. His senior year came to a screeching halt when he sustained a serious injury. Non-the-less he signed with the Raiders and healed and has been there for three years.
By all accounts he is still learning the position. So does he have what it takes to be a starter and help lead the Raiders to winning seasons?
The Raiders passed up on some free agent talent and apparently feel solid with Hayden although Hayden struggled in a short stint in 2014. He has his work cut out for him and we will soon see if he has what it takes to succeed in the league of “high expectations”.
